Senior Footballers
There was disappointment for the senior men’s footballers in Grange on Saturday evening when they allowed a four-point lead to slip against St Molaise Gaels in their Division 1 match, with the home side running out victors in the end by 1-15 to 2-9. Overall, we played in fits and starts with the both the goals from Cian Lally and captain Neil Ewing coming during an impressive third quarter when we turned a four-point deficit into a four-point lead, but we were unable to build on that. With both of our recognised goalkeepers unavailable for this match, fair play to John Hester who improvised manfully for us in goals on Saturday. The team was: John Hester, Tommy Finnegan, John McGowan, Jude McGarry, John Harvey, Dara Long, Stephen Regan, Brian Monaghan, Brian Óg Murphy, Neil Ewing (Capt) 1-0, Jamie Gillen 0-3, Ciaran McLaughlin, Paul Logan 0-5, Neil Canning 0-1, Cian Lally 1-0. Subs used: Kevin Davey, Niall Collery for Niall Canning.

Next up for the seniors is a Kiernan Cup (Group 2) match this Saturday evening against Shamrock Gaels in Coola at 7pm.

Ladies Footballers
The DRP ladies suffered their first defeat in Division 2 last Sunday morning in Keash against Eastern Harps on a final scoreline of 4-13 to 4-7. This was a gutsy display by the girls, particularly in the first half, which saw them leading by the interval. They play St Michaels in Oxfield this Sunday morning at 10am. Sunday’s team was: Rachel Quigley, Jayne McCormack Aimee Oates, Orlaith Furey (Capt), Lisa McLoughlin, Michelle McNamara, Kate Keyes, Sinéad Regan, Emily McCormack, Tara Donohoe, Amanda Healy, Ella McDermott, Roisín Healy, Laura Oates, Molly Brady. Subs: Shirley Nicholson, Tracey O’Boyle, Megan Brady, Grace Casserly.

College Success
It was a big day for the Summerhill College juvenile footballers (pictured above) last Thursday as they beat St Jarlath’s Tuam by 2-18 to 1-8 to lift the Connacht Colleges ‘A’ championship title for 2018 at Bekan. This completed a league & championship double for the team. There were nine DRP players in this Summerhill squad. Congrats to Ciarán O’Reilly, Hugh Keaney, Ciarán Smith 0-2, Cian Oates 0-2, Ben Kelly 1-1, Desmond Gillen, Josh Brady, Eddie Fitzpatrick & James McDermott.

We had three players (Eoghan Smith, Ian O’Brien & Ciarán O’Reilly) in the College’s junior team which narrowly lost its Connacht final on Friday last.
