A personal tally of 14 points by Paul Logan helped the men’s senior team make a winning start to their Furey’s Coaches SFL Division 2 campaign away to St Farnan’s last Sunday. We won by 1-16 to 1-11 on a day when everything Logie put his boot to - 45s, frees, attempts from play - went over the bar. The tally is an individual club record in a senior competitive match. The team have their first home league match of the season this Saturday evening against Castleconnor. Throw-in at Oxfield is 5pm.

Our ladies intermediate footballers also enjoyed an impressive win at the weekend, beating Tourlestrane by 5-14 to 4-3 in Division 2 of the league.

Commiserations to club players Jude McGarry, Jamie Gillen (0-1) and the Sligo team who were beaten by an impressive Roscommon side in the Connacht U21 football semi-final on Saturday. They

Our U16 hurlers (Benbulben Gaels) lost their opening league match of the season to Naomh Eoin on a final scoreline of 2-3 to 0-8.

The club was saddened to hear of the death of Aidan McGowan, President of our neighbouring GAA Club, St Molaise Gaels. Aidan was a hugely popular and respected GAA figure in the north Sligo area. Our deepest sympathy to the McGowan family.

Our GAA nursery will continue over the Easter, including this Saturday 26th in Oxfield. U6 training (indoors) at 9:45am. U8 and U10 at 10:30am.

We wish Seán Power, Cian Lally, Colin Feeney, Aaron McCormack, Jack McLoughlin, Ross Hickey and Summerhill College senior footballers every success this Wednesday afternoon in their Hogan Cup semi-final against St Patrick’s College, Maghera. The match is in Brewster Park, Enniskillen, at 2pm.

Good luck to everybody taking part in annual Carney Lissadell 10K on Easter Monday.
The walk starts at 11:30am, with the run beginning at 12pm. Registration takes place in Oxfield from 9:30am.

Finally, if you prefer two wheels to running, there’s still plenty of time to register for the club’s CyclePoint2Point on May 21st & 22nd. See facebook.com/cyclepoint2point or drp.gaa.ie for info and registration forms.
