Well done to all the Sligo GAA personnel who were involved with last Saturday’s ‘Gaelic Voices For Change’  Solidarity Sleepout on O’Connell Street in Sligo to raise awareness and funds for homlessness. The event was a big success raising more than €200,000 nationwide.

Two of our club members Gemma and Rían O’Callaghan produced fine performances for North Sligo Athletic Club last Sunday at the All-Ireland uneven age group cross country championships in County Waterford. Gemma finished 4th in the girls U11 race, while Rian finished in a very creditable 33rd place in the boys U13 event.

Rián O’Callaghan & Gemma O’Callaghan ran very well for North Sligo Athletic Club at the All-Ireland underage cross country in Waterford at the weekend.

If you feel the need for exercise over the festive period, there are plenty of local events coming up over the next week/10 days. The annual Rosses Point Christmas Day swim takes place next Monday 12pm, while the GOAL mile takes place in Rosses Point village on St Stephen’s Day at 3pm. North Sligo Athletic Club are also organising the Benbulben 5K race on New Years Eve, starting at Oxfield at 12pm.
