U21s Bow Out
Our U21 footballers’ run in the championship came to end last Saturday at Oxfield when they went down to Shamrock Gaels In the county ‘B’ championship semi-final on a final scoreline of 2-16 to 1-6. We were without the injured Cian Lally (broken foot). Just two points separated the teams at half-time (0-6 to 0-4) but Shamrock Gaels took control in the second half and ran out convincing winners. David Brady scored a fine consolation goal near the end.We wish the Gaels every success in the final against Eastern Harps. Scór na bPaistí
Rathcormac National School hosted a very successful inaugural Scór na bPaistí competition for Sligo GAA last Sunday afternoon with hundreds of primary school children from schools across the county taking part. 128 boys and girls from Rathcormac NS entered competitions ranging from solo singing to drama and set dancing.
Local prizewinners included: Ballad Group – Fiachra McCarthy, Aoibheann O’Reilly & Diarmuíd Dunleavy; Drama – Rían O’Callaghan, Michael Carroll, Matthew Percy, Diarmuíd Dunleavy, Andrew Connell, Lee Conlon, Karl Byrne, Darragh McDaniel, Joe Campbell; Set Dancing – Diarmuid Dunleavy, Andrew Connell, Daniel Oates, Lauren Kelly, Orla Moylan, Emma Carroll, Gemma O’Callaghan & Rían O’Callaghan. We are grateful to our car park attendants Shane Campbell and Jimmy O’Brien who had a busy afternoon co-ordinating the Scór traffic. Particular thanks go to our local co-ordinator Mary Power who did trojan work in helping to pull the entire event together.
Zero2Hero
A stellar line-up of GAA personalities will be part of the club’s big fundraising event for 2017 – the Zero2Hero Night in the Radisson Hotel on Thursday, November 30th. The event, which is being organised by our senior men’s footballer squad, will feature lively interviews and discussion with an invited panel, followed by a fundraising auction. Each member of our senior panel is donating items for the auction. Details of these are available on the club’s Facebook page. The event begins at 7pm and admission is €10. Tickets can be purchased in advance, and are available from any club officer.
Sligo U15s
There were three DRP footballers on the 43-strong Sligo county U15 development squad which went on a training weekend Banna Resort in Co Kerry recently. Eoghan Smith, Ian O’Brien & Lee Cummins were the trio. The Sligo squad was given a fantastic talk by Kieran Donaghy, and the lads presented him with a coveted Sligo jersey afterwards.
Masters final
Hard luck to Ronan Keane and the Sligo Gaelic football masters team who lost out to Mayo in Saturday’s All-Ireland final in Ballymote by 1-10 to 0-9.

Hurling Nursery
