Commiserations to our U21 footballers Seán Power, Jude McGarry, Cian Lally and the Sligo team on last Saturday’s Connacht U21 final extra-time heartbreak against Galway. The team put in a courageous display on the evening and can hold their heads high.

Thank you to everybody who attended our Open Club Planning Workshop (pictured) last Friday night at County Sligo Golf Club. The evening provided club personnel and interested members of the local community the opportunity to give their opinions on the best way forward for the club over the next five years. Some good ideas were generated. We’ll be holding a similar event in Drumcliffe after Easter.

Our ladies intermediate footballers were well beaten by a strong Eastern Harps team in their concluding ACL Cup game last Sunday morning. Between injuries, illness and county commitments, we were without 10 of our frontline players and this had an impact on the game. The team will now regroup for their opening Connacht Gold Division 2 intermediate league match this Sunday morning in Oxfield against Calry/St Joseph’s. Throw-in is 10am. All support is very welcome.

Our senior men’s footballers begin their Furey’s Coaches Division 1 league campaign this Sunday afternoon with a trip to Kilcoyne Park to play Tubbercurry at 1pm.

The club will also be entering in junior team in Division 4 of the league this year. Contact Club Secretary Sean Reynolds for more info.

Our girls U16 footballers made a fine start to their Div 1 league campaign on Wednesday evening with a 5-8 to 2-4 win over St Mary’s at Oxfield. The boys U16s make their Division 3 entrance in on Monday evening with a trip to Stenson Park to play St John’s at 6:30pm.

The boys U14 footballers play Curry in their opening match of Division 1 this Friday evening in Oxfield at 6:30pm. Training for the girls U14 footballers continues every Sunday evening at 7pm. New players are always very welcome. Contact girls U14 manager Tom O”Boyle on 0872792686 for more information. Good luck also to our two boys U12 football teams in their respective league matches against Ballymote/Bunninadden this week.

We’ve a great family event taking place this Sunday afternoon (April 9th) from 5-7pm in Rathcormac Hall – our annual Family Table Quiz. With questions and prizes to suit all ages, it promises to be a very enjoyable couple of hours for both young and not-so-young! See the club’s Facebook page for more event information.

The Club lotto results for April are as follows: Numbers drawn were 7 11 17 & 25. There was no winner of the €5000 jackpot. There were two Match 3 winners – Anthony Gilmartin and Myles Philips.
Hard luck to our quiz team who bowed out of the Ocean FM Pole Position sports quiz at the weekend after losing a high-scoring quarter-final to Owenmore Gaels.
