Commiserations to our club player Jack McLoughlin and the Sligo minor footballers who were beaten by Galway Sunday’s Connacht minor football at Salthill. The summer is still alive for the team as they now prepare for an All-Ireland quarter-final against the Ulster champions (Derry/Cavan).

There WAS all-Ireland glory for two of our girls U16 footballers at the weekend. Sophie McDonagh and Tara Donohoe are part of the Sligo U16 team which lifted the All-Ireland ‘C’ title in Kinnegad last Saturday after beating Westmeath in the final. Congrats to all involved.

Good luck to our boys U16 footballers who play Owenmore Gaels in their Division 3 league semi-final in Scarden this Wednesday evening at 7pm (moved from Monday 10th).
Benbulben Gaels minor hurlers play their re-arranged and inaugural championship match against Tourlestrane/Curry on Tuesday evening at 7pm. This is the first time that the club has fielded an U18 hurling team in the Sligo championship and so the match marks an important milestone in the ongoing development of hurling at DRP.
The DRP ladies intermediate footballers begin their 2017 championship campaign away to CT Gaels on Sunday morning next.
Our ladies intermediate footballers begin their club championship campaign for 2017 next Sunday morning (16th) when they travel to south Sligo to play CT Gaels in their opening group game at 10am. We’re in a three-time group along with Calry/St Joseph’s whom we play on July 30th. We wish the players and manager Mike Healy the very best of luck.
The senior men’s footballers resume their Furey’s Coaches Division 1 league campaign next Sunday afternoon (16th) with a trip to Gurteen to play Eastern Harps at 1pm. This is our penultimate league match and we need one more win from our two remaining matches to be sure of avoiding the drop to Division 2.
Our junior men’s footballer have an important league match in Division 4 on Friday evening when they travel to Monsignor Hynes Park in Grange to play neighbours St Molaise Gaels at 8pm.

This is Conor Kenny (pictured above) from Rosses Point – a former senior club captain with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point. Last month, he played his first game with the club for nine years when he linked up with the junior men’s footballers to play in a Division 4 match against Owenmore Gaels (which we won). His work as a Doctor has taken him overseas in recent years but he has always retained a deep affinity and connection with his GAA club.
Earlier this year, Conor spent three months (Feb-May) working on the Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) boat, MV Aquarius, in the Mediterranean, to provide care for some of those affected by the ongoing migrant crisis.

Conor was also recently invited by the Sligo GAA senior football team manager Niall Carew to give a talk to the Sligo players (prior to the Antrim qualifier) to share some of his experiences and insights with the players.
The girls U12 footballers began their championship campaign last Friday with a defeat to CT Gaels. The U12 championship is played on a round-robin basis. Our boys U12 football teams play Eastern Harps this Tuesday evening at 7.
The U6 footballers from Drumcliffe/Rosses Point & St Mary’s who took part in a fun blitz last Saturday morning at Kent Park.
Our thanks to St Mary’s GAA club for hosting a midweek blitz for our U8 & U10 footallers last Wednesday, and then our U6 nursery footballers in a very enjoyable fun blitz at Kent Park last Saturday morning. This Saturday’s GAA Nursery coaching session at Oxfield for our U6-U10 footballers will be the final one before we take a summer break for a few weeks. Coaching will resume towards the end of August. Parents will be notified of the restart date in due course.
More than 100 children have already registered for the Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp, which takes place next week (July 17-21st) in Oxfield. The Cúl Camp is open to boys and girls aged 6-13 years and there is still time register online.
