A depleted senior men’s football team were beaten by Eastern Harps at Keash in Division 1 last Sunday on a final scoreline of 3-7 to 0-10. The concession of an early goal meant we were chasing game for long periods, and while we did get level at one stage in the second half, our opponents scored two second-half goals to propel them to victory. The game was notable for the return of goalkeeper Ronan McCormack from a lengthy injury lay-off as he came on in the closing moments, while Oisín O’Reilly also got his first taste of senior league football when introduced as a substitute. The seniors now have a two-week break on the match front. Sunday’s team was: Justin Lyons, Tommy Finnegan, John McGowan, Aaron McCormack, Jude McGarry, Dara Long, Jamie Gillen 0-1, Brian Óg Murphy, Brian Monaghan 0-1, Stephen Regan 0-1, Niall Canning, Hugh Kisby, Paul Logan 0-5., John Hester, Kevin Davey. Subs used:  Oisín O’Reilly for Kevin Davey,  Niall Collery 0-1 for John Hester, Ronan McCormack for Justin Lyons.

The junior team also suffered their first defeat in Division 4, going down to Coolaney/Mullinabreena at Cloonacool 5-12 to 0-9. Next up for the juniors is a home match against St Molaise Gaels next Sunday in Oxfield at 2pm. The senior league takes a break for a couple of weeks.
