We’d like to congratulate our juvenile club players who won a superb silver medal with the Drumcliffe Boys U16 Community Games basketball team  (pictured) in Castlebar at the weekend. All the lads are players with DRP U14 and U16 teams: Michael Hedigan, Ciarán Smith, Micheál Broaders, Eoghan Smith, Lee Cummins, Ciaran Casserly, Desmond Gillen, Josh Brady & Ciaran O’Reilly. Coaches: Oisin O’ Reilly and Mick Hedigan.

Our ladies intermediate footballers made a winning start to their Division 2 league campaign last Sunday morning with an impressive 2-10 to 1-4 win over Calry/St Joseph’s at Oxfield. We’re away to Shamrock Gaels next Sunday morning.

The opening day of the Furey’s Coaches SFL Division 1 was less enjoyable for our senior men’s footballers as they were well beaten by Tubbercurry in Kilcoyne Park. We host Tourlestrane at Oxfield in our next league game on Good Friday. Throw-in at Oxfield is 6:30pm.  Two days later, we travel to Hazelwood to play Calry/St Joseph’s at 2pm.

The seniors have been drawn in Group 3 of the 2017 Belfry senior football championship and will face group matches against holders Tourlestrane (away) on August 13th, and against Coolaney/Mullinabreena (at home) a week later.

Our boys minor footballers begin their league campaign with a home match against Castleconnor on Thursday evening.

The girls U16 footballers backed up their recent win over St Mary’s with another two points against Shamrock Gaels in Riverstown on Tuesday evening on a final scoreline of 8-5 to 5-8.

The boys U16 footballers begin their division 3 campaign this week with a home game against Owenmore Gaels on Monday evening (April 10th).

The boys U14 footballers made a winning start to their Division 1 league campaign with a 4-13 to 5-8 success against Curry at Oxfield last Friday. Highlight of the game was Danny Cronin’s return to the field of play to score 1-1 after being forced off because of injury early on in the match.

Our girls U12 footballers put in a battling display against Coolera/Strandhill last Friday evening in Ransboro. The home side were victorious in the end but this is a team with lots of potential. We are scheduled to play St Molaise Gaels this Friday.

Our boys U12 teams enjoyed good wins against Ballymote/Bunninadden last week. Next up is Tubbercurry on Tuesday evening.

Our U8 & U10 footballers host St Molaise Gaels in a fun blitz this Wednesday evening at Oxfield, starting at 7pm.

Thanks to all the families who supported our annual family table quiz in Rathcormac Hall last Sunday evening. An enjoyable evening was had by all. Well done to the Campbell family who took home the top prize – and an honourable mention too for the Moylans, who were runners-up.

Good luck to all club members taking part in the popular Carney Lissadell 10K on Easter Monday. The kids fun run starts at 11am, the walk begins at 11:30am, with the main race getting underway at 12pm. For more event details, see www.oxfield.ie.
