Cul Camp 2023

We had a terrific Cúl Camp week at Oxfield with 240 kids participating. Special thanks to lead coach Darragh Cox and his Sligo GAA team of coaches for a terrific five days. As always, our Cúl Camp co-ordinator Mary Power, ably assisted by Phil Gallagher, Damien Kerrigan and a host of club volunteers helped ensure the week ran flawlessly. Well done to all participants who had a fab week.

Thank you to everyone who dropped off bags for our ‘Cash for Clobber’ Collection at Oxfield all last week.

Big congrats to Gemma O’Callaghan, Kate Smith, Katie McDonagh and the Sligo U16 girls footballers who beat Armagh last week to qualify for next Sunday’s All-Ireland’ ‘B’ final against Kerry. A terrific achievement by the players. DRP club members Sean Smith and Denise O’Calaghan are also part of the Sligo U16 management team.

Best wishes to Rianne Smith, Izzy Henry, Ruth Flanagan and the Sligo LGFA minor footballers who play Roscommon this Wednesday evening in the Connacht ‘B’ football final at the Centre of Excellence in Bekan at 7pm.

Sligo LGFA seniors rounded off their All-Ireland junior championship campaign last Saturday with a big win over Kilkenny (7-19 to 1-5). Sinead Regan was on the scoresheet for Sligo with 1-2. Despite the win, Sligo have just missed out on an All-Ireland semi-final place.

Our women’s intermediate footballers will play an All County League Shield semi-final following last Sunday’s 1-13 to 1-9 loss to Tourlestrane.

The senior men’s footballers suffered their third defeat in a row in Division 2, going down to Castleconnor last Friday by 1-8 to 0-9. The team travel to Nace O’Dowd Park this Saturday to play league leaders Coolaney/Mullinabreena at 4pm.

Our under-19 side made a winning start to their championship with a 1-6 to 0-7 win over Coolera/Strandhill at Oxfield last Wednesday evening. We play Eastern Harps this Wednesday evening in Keash at 7:30pm.

Both our boys U15 football teams are in championship action this Thursday evening. Team ‘Red’ are at home to Easkey/St Farnan’s. Team Black travel to Ransboro to play Coolera/Strandhill.

Our U15 hurlers will play Coolera/Strandhill on Friday evening in the championship, also at Ransboro. The team had a good 6-10 to 4-5 victory over Calry/St Joseph’s last week.
