David Clifford wasn’t the only football star on show at Croke Park on Sunday during the Kerry-Derry All-Ireland semi-final. DRP’s U12 footballer Julianna Gormley (pictured_ had the honour of representing Carraroe NS in the Cumann na mBunscol half-time exhibition game. A day for her to remember.

Commiserations to the Sligo U16 girls who produced a gutsy display in last Sunday’s All-Ireland final against Kerry in Ballinasloe. Kerry the winners by three points but Sligo and the DRP trio Gemma O’Callaghan, Kate Smith and Katie McDonagh can be very proud of the journey they’ve had in this year’s All-Ireland championship.

Sligo LGFA minors produced a superb display last Wednesday evening in Bekan to beat Roscommon by a point, 2-12 to 3-8, to lift the Connacht minor ‘B’ football title for 2023. Rianne Smith, Izzy Henry and Ruth Flanagan were all part of the Sligo squad. It was another memorable Sligo success in 2023. Congrats to all involved. Sligo now face Cavan this Wednesday evening (7:30pm) in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Our senior men’s footballers returned to winning ways last Saturday in Division 2 of the league with a 0-11 to 1-7 win over leaders Coolaney/Mullinabreena in Coolaney. Next up: we host Easkey this Sunday in Oxfield at 1pm.

The junior men’s footballers had a 1-18 to 2-8 win over Coolera/Strandhill in Sunday’s Division 4 game at Oxfield.

Our women’s intermediate footballers have an ACL league shield semi-final coming up soon. Match details will appear on the club’s social media pages in the coming days.

Hard luck to Paul O’Brien, Thomas Davis and Donnchadh O’Brien who were part of the Naomh Eoin senior hurling team who lost out narrowly to St Fechins (Louth) in last Sunday’s Cuchulainn Cup final in Cavan.

The DRP U19 footballers play St Mary’s this Wednesday evening (July 19th) in the county ‘A’ final at Markievicz Park. Throw-in is at 6:45pm. The team would appreciate big club support on Wednesday. The team reached the decider last Wednesday with a one-point win over Eastern Harps in their semi-final at Keash.

Well done to our U7 and U9 All-Stars footballers who braved the weather last Saturday morning in North Leitrim to play a very enjoyable blitz with Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club. Thanks to our senior men’s footballer Ciaran McLoughlin for helping to initiate this club link-up.

Saturday morning All-Stars football & hurling coaching at Rathcormac NS now takes a short summer break for the next few weeks. We’ll resume Saturday, August 12th.

The DRP Golf Classic takes place at Co Sligo Golf Club (Bomore Course) in Rosses Point on Friday, August 18th. It’s a nine-hole scramble event geared for players of all abilities.
