Last Saturday night was a special one for several LGFA club members as Sligo LGFA celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Gala Banquet at the Clayton Hotel. Michelle McNamara, Sinead Regan and Rianne Smith all collected Club All-Star awards for their performances in the Connacht Gold senior and intermediate football championships this year. The achievements of the Sligo minor and U16 teams in reaching All-Ireland finals was acknowledged too – wiht Gemma O’Callaghan, Kate Smith and Katie McDonagh (16 panel) – and Isabella Henry, Ruth Flanagan and Rianne Smith (Minor panel) receiving their respective Connacht Championship winners and All-Ireland runners-up medals.

This Saturday is county final day for our men’s under-20 footballers as they take on Eastern Harps in the ‘A’ Championship final. The game has a 7pm throw-in – in Tourlestrane. We wish the team and manager Fergal O’Flaherty the very best of luck.

Our end-of-year Club Social will take place on Thursday, December 28th, in the Golf Club at Rosses Point. Save the date.

The Club AGM for 2023 takes place on Sunday, December 10th, in the Old School, Rathcormac, at 7pm sharp.

The men’s over 35s charity game between DRP and our neighbours St Molaise Gaels returns on December 27th. ‘An Classac‘ will be staged this year at Oxfield at 12 noon with proceeds going towards North West Stop.

We will hold our annual Juvenile Presentation evening in January – on Saturday, Jan 13th, at Rathcormac Hall. More details to follow over the festive period.
