DRP women’s junior footballers began their Spring League campaign on Sunday morning at Oxfield with a 6-11 to 1-8 win against neighbours St Molaise Gaels. Our senior women’s team begin their Connacht Gold Division 1 league campaign this Easter Sunday morning at home to Eastern Harps. Throw-in is at 10:30am.

Hard luck to our boys minor gaelic footballers who lost out to Coolera on Sunday evening last in their opening Minor League game of the new season.
The team play St Molaise Gaels in Grange on Good Friday at 5pm.

Well done to Katie McDonagh, Kate Smith, Meadhbh Fitzpatrick and the Sligo LGFA U16 football team who continued their winning start to the Connacht championship last Saturday with victory over Leitrim in Mohill.

Commiserations to Rianne Smith, Sinead Regan, Izzy Henry and the Sligo senior team on their relegation from Division 3 last weekend. The Sligo men’s footballers finished their Division 3 campaign strongly with a six-point win over Westmeath at Markievicz Park. Well done Cian and Eoghan.

This Sunday is a big one for Donnchadh O’Brien and the Sligo senior hurlers as they take on Mayo in the Division 3A league final in Castlebar. Throw-in is at 2pm. Good luck Donnchadh!

Sligo under-20 footballers begin the defence of their Connacht Championship title this Wednesday when they host Roscommon in Markievicz Park at 5:15pm. We wish the DRP quartet of Ross Chambers, Rían O’Callaghan, Paul O’Brien and James Donlon the very best of luck. The game is being livestreamed by Connacht GAA for those who can’t get to the match.

A big thank you to everybody who support our St Patrick’s Day Family Hot Pot Event at Harry’s Bar in Rosses Point. The event raised €2,200 for the club. Special thanks to Club Chairperson Mary Power and her team of DRP ‘Chefs’ who supplied the delicious food and provided the catering on the day. We are very appreciate of Fenton Ewing and the staff of Harry’s for their generous support and assistance once again.

After a weather interruption last Saturday, All-Stars coaching for girls and boys continues this Saturday morning (March 30th) at Rathcormac Playing Fields at the usual times. Please note that a short welcome talk for the parents/guardians of new players will take place this Saturday in Rathcormac Hall at 10am. Oxfield will be a hive of activity this Easter Monday morning when athletes for the Carney 10k and Half Marathon road races gather for pre-race registration. Good luck to all the runners and organisers involved. It promises to be a great day.
