The weather forced the postponement of our women’s intermediate and senior men’s football teams first competitive games of the new season at the weekend.
There are four DRP players involved with the Summerhill College senior boys gaelic football team who are through to the Connacht ‘A’ Colleges final next weekend. Well done to Ciarán O’Reilly, Cian Oates, Desmond Gillen and Eoghan Smith who kicked the winning free last Thursday night’s semi-final win against St Coleman’s of Claremorris. Summerhill play St Gerald’s of Castlebar in the final.
Sophie McDonagh (vice-captain), Aoife McLoughlin and Alannah Gallagher were all part of the Sligo county minor squad which produced a gutsy performance last Friday night in Tourlestrane before losing narrowly to Roscommon in their opening Connacht Championship round-robin match by 3-9 to 3-7.
The club is hosting a drug awareness and substance abuse talk with Detective Garda Inspector Niall Davey in Oxfield on Monday, March 9th, at 8:30pm. This event is primarily for guardians/parents who have children attending secondary school – but all parents are welcome. Admission is free.
We have decided to hold off starting the new GAA nursery coaching season at Rathcormac NS until Saturday, March14th, to give the playing fields a chance to dry and improve.
Well done to the Sligo senior footballers on their vital win in Wexford at the weekend.
The club under 21 championship begins this weekend. We are not fielding a team in the competition this year.

If you’re planning ahead, the 2020 Kellogg’s Cúl Camp dates for Oxfield are July 13-17th this year. The camp is tailored for girls and boys aged 6-13 years. The main change this year is that registration will only be possible online. Registration opens shortly at kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
