The DRP minor girls footballers finished their season on a high last Saturday as they claimed the Sligo LGFA minor ‘A’ shield title with a 6-12 to 3-8 win over Eastern Harps at Kent Park.  Four goals from Katie McGuire and two from Ruth Flanagan tied up a deserved win for team with Rianne Smith captaining the side. The marked end of an era for this group with 10 of the girls moving on to adult level next year.

The club was saddened last week to learn of the death of Peadar Power’s brother Virgil in county Waterford. We extend our condolences to the Powers at this sad time. Our sympathies also to the families of John Keaveney (Drumcliffe South) and Kathleen Gilmartin (Teesan), following their passing in recent days.

The Sligo men’s under-20 ‘A’ football championship begins this Saturday (Oct 28th). DRP’s first match is against Shamrock Gaels in Coola at 2pm. We are in a four-team Group 1, which also includes Curry and St Molaise Gaels.
