Big congrats to the DRP junior men’s football team who added the ‘B’ championship title on Sunday to their league success earlier this season, with a 0-13 to 0-11 win over Coolaney/Mullinabreena after extra-time in Tourlestrane. It’s been a fine season for the team and the trophies won reflect that. Well done to Eoin Gaughan, who received the Player of the Match award in Sunday’s final.

Commiserations to our senior women’s footballers who battled courageously in last Saturday’s Connacht Gold SFC final at Markievicz Park before losing out to defending champions St Nathy’s on a final scoreline of 1-12 to 0-7. Congrats to St Nathy’s on achieving the six-in-a-row. Our developing team can look back positively on the 2023 season, having reached two championship deciders (senior and intermediate). Well done to manager Des Henry and all the players and backroom team involved.

We wish our North Sligo neighbours St Molaise Gaels the very best of luck in this Sunday’s men’s Homeland senior football final against Coolera/Strandhill.

We extend the club’s condolences to Vera Deacy and family following the passing of Vera’s mum Anne Ward in Mayo last week.

Congratulations to local athlete Mary Cullen whose running career was celebrated with a Hall of Fame award at last weekend’s inaugural Ocean FM Sports Awards in the Radisson Hotel. Mary’s son Ellis is one of the new DRP recruits to our Saturday morning All-Stars coaching this season – and is already showing similar sporting pedigree.
